Historically it used to be a bridge connecting East and West civilizations. Bordering Black Sea gives is big advantage, while increasing the development of Georgia’s regions and supporting exploitation of existing environmental factors for the country’s sustainable development. The region Samegrelo Zemo-Svaneti has enormous natural, social, economic and demographic resources. Their reasonable use will induce the development of the region. In this paper, we provide a discussion about the resources and potential of the region Samegrelo Zemo-Svaneti for the purposes of sustainable development. It is considered as one of the featured region, which has a potential to improve Georgia’s economic stance. Also, we provide the factor analysis of the region, which reveals the sustainable development problems which exists in the region.
